What is LoRa?
LoRa is the acronym for Long Range Radio. Thus, a LoRaWAN™ is an LPWAN (Low Power Wide Area Network) specification designed for wireless, battery-operated “Things” (devices) in regional, national or global networks – as part of the Internet of Things (IoT). LoRaWAN targets key requirements of the IoT, such as seamless interoperability among smart Things, without the need for complex local installations. It gives users, developers and companies the freedom to expand the IoT.

Atšķirībā no ierastajiem bezvadu un mobilā interneta veidiem, LoRa tehnoloģija nodrošina datu pārraidi lielos attālumos un atšķiras ar zemām uzturēšanas izmaksām, mazu enerģijas patēriņu un iespēju pieslēgt tīklā neierobežotu ierīču skaitu. Tas nodrošina sensoru vai skaitītāju darbību ar vienu bateriju līdz pat 10 gadiem.
